Financial wellness
Financial stress is a mental health issue wearing a money costume

Survey after survey finds money to be the most commonly cited source of stress among working adults — ahead of work itself, health, and relationships. Yet in the standard corporate benefits stack, financial wellbeing is nobody's job. Payroll executes. HR administers. The EAP treats the anxiety while carefully not mentioning its cause.
Clinically, chronic financial strain behaves like any chronic stressor: it's associated with anxiety and depressive symptoms, with worse sleep, and with the kind of cognitive load that degrades decision-making — including, cruelly, financial decision-making. Behavioural economics gave this a name: scarcity captures the mind. A person worrying about an EMI is running a background process that taxes everything else.
Why literacy comes first
There's a temptation to jump straight to investment products. We deliberately don't. A large share of financial anxiety in Indian workplaces is not about optimising a portfolio — it's about not understanding the system you're already inside. What the deductions on your payslip mean. Whether your PF is actually accumulating. What happens if you get the tax regime choice wrong. Whether your corporate health cover would actually survive contact with a hospital bill.
These are answerable questions, and answering them measurably reduces worry. That's why Tier 1 of the Money module is pure education — India-specific, jargon-free, with no products to push. Personalised planning comes later, gated behind SEBI-registered advice, once engagement data shows employees are ready to act rather than just understand.
The cross-module tell
The most interesting evidence for treating money as health shows up in cross-module data: financial stress weeks correlating with mood dips, salary-cycle patterns in anxiety check-ins, life events like home purchases preceding spikes in both money-content engagement and counselling bookings. A platform that sees only one of those streams misses the story. Seeing them together — anonymised, at population level — is what lets an employer respond with the right help instead of a generic one.
